Ingrid De Sanctis

Ingrid De Sanctis currently teaches in the theatre department at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. She continues to work as a freelance director, actor, and playwright seeking work in theatre that is transforming for the soul and spirit.

Following her graduate work in theatre she taught for five years at Eastern Mennonite University and Clemson University and then spent four years as an associate director of drama at Willow Creek Community Church. There she worked creating, performing, and directing drama and empowering churches across the world to incorporate the arts into their services. She continues to consult and write for churches as they explore drama. Ingrid has worked with Ted & Company writing, directing, and acting in DoveTale and directing Who Wants to Buy an Enemy? and What would Lloyd Do?. Most recently she co-wrote and performs with Ted in Excellent Trouble, a play about men and women in the Bible.

Continually drawn to work in theatre that responds to the needs of the culture, Ingrid served with AmeriCorps in Apopka, Florida, using the arts for empowerment with young Hispanic students and their families from 2006-2007. She has received writing grants, allowing her to create edgy, challenging plays on such topics as refugees in the Balkans (Torba), survivors of violent crime (A Body in Motion), and stories of faith created with inner-city youth (WhaChaGonnaDu?). She is moved by stories of transcendence and resilience and is continually amazed at how the arts expand our hearts and minds.
